A Look at Google’s Penguin 4.0 Update & the Expected Release Date

google penguin 4.0

Google announced earlier this year that they had been working on the Penguin 4.0 search algorithm update. This would change the way search results are ranked, affecting a lot of SEO practices.

Previously we had been expecting the update to be released by the end of 2015. Google had also stated they expected to release it in that time frame. For a lot of webmasters, this was great news as Penguin 3.0 had affected their rankings in a big way.

Now, after being questioned by a number of people, Google has confirmed that the Penguin 4.0 update will not be happening this year. With that being said, considering how much time and work has been put into it, the algorithm update is likely to drop pretty early in 2016.

Are Women Better Writers Than Men?

women better writersWhile I’m about to go off on a long, seemingly pointless tangent, please bear with it and keep reading, as I promise, hand to heart, that what I am about to say, as flowery and unnecessarily descriptive as it may be, will make sense… eventually.

As a young female writer who has dreamed of being a novelist since childhood, when I would sit down at my white, antique desk with the worn silver knobs and telling dents that had been handed down to my mother from my great-grandmother, I have always been filled with a love of words. The way they dance across a page to capture the imaginations of the readers, the way they…

Okay, I can’t go on. Are you still with me?

That was excruciating. Here’s the point:

When it comes to developing plot and characters, women writers have been said to have a tendency to write long, drawn-out, excessively detailed descriptions that explain too much.

The Death of Joan Vollmer Adams Burroughs

william s. burroughs shoots wifeDue to trouble with the law, mainly for drug possession and distribution, William S. Burroughs, his wife Joan and their children moved many times, ending up in Mexico City.

One night Bill and Joan attended a party and, while drunk, it is argued that they decided to play a game of William Tell. While accounts of the events and conversations leading up to Joan’s death differ, it is a fact that Bill did attempt to shoot a glass off Joan’s head and missed. Whether or not they had attempted this trick before is also up for debate.

On Sept. 6, 1951, Bill and Joan visited the apartment of John Healy in Mexico City. A few hours later, Joan arrived at Cruz Roja (Red Cross) where medics began emergency life-saving measures for a bullet wound to the head. Joan had been shot by Bill and pronounced dead at the hospital. She was only 28.
