My name is Jennifer Berube. I grew up in the blistering cold Presque Isle Maine. It is snowy...and cold...and snowy.... When I graduated high school I stayed in Maine for a year and then decided I needed a bit of a change and made my way here to Houston. Several years have passed and I've become quite settled in this Texan land. When I moved h
ere to Texas my true experience and work began in graphic design. I first started desiging icons for popular social websites and conpeteing in competitions. From there I got more active in the design aspect of life and began experimenting with art and digital design. It just grew from there. Since then I've worked for many contract websites such as mucisians, writers, a lawyer, jewelers, a sign company and so on. I've done everything from print design tags to giant posters to hang up at special events. I also got into the coding aspect of web design and began to learn various languages which I have since then mastered and continue to learn from. I work with webpages written in php, asp, asp.net, coldfusion etc..
Two years ago I ended up getting hired on by Lockheed Martin as a web designer with the NASA contract. I was nervous at first knowing I was about to take my first step into the corporate world. Lockheed Martin has proven to be one of the most a valuable experience that I continue to grow and learn from everyday. My work at Lockheed Martin does not only involve just creating websites, re-designing the old ones etc... I also work as a web administrator. I work with the back-end of the whole website world. Working from this aspect has added extremely important knowledge in the functionality, security, and communication of the webpages that are placed on the internet today. I have not only gained knowledge on how to manage servers, IIS, SQL but also how to troubleshoot website issues, work with developers as an almost lead like position, and provide proper website security.
When I'm not with the Lockheed Martin crew I'm home spending time with my fiance (getting married soon this year) and our lovely pets (picture of Ginger our dog is below). We have three cats (Amalia, Artemis, and Lord Byron) and a lovely hog of a dog named Ginger. Besides web design and coding I love to do art just in my free time with my trusty wacom tablet. I enjoy painting and drawing anything. I'm also a musician. I have been playing the cello for 13 years and continue to pl
ay and practice now. I also love to read and write.
One important aspect of me is that I am always looking for oppurtunities and challenges. I am a challenge seeker. I'm not afraid of extra effort or work that may come along with a new oppurtunity and I take things head on. I'm a fast learner and am willing to add to my list of skills if the skill is requested of my client. I have self taught myself basically everything I know. I am, of course, following up with courses in college which I still attend as a part-time student (can't do full-time with a full-time job!). I am dedicated to my job and to my clients and will do all it takes to ensure that they are pleased with the results of their request.
